The care data programme wants to improve the care and health services for all. By using information about the care you have received, those involved in providing the care and health services can see how well they are doing.
The care.data programme will extract date from the GP practices and combine it with data already extracted from hospitals and other healthcare providers. This data will be sent securely to the Health and Social care Information centre (HSCIC) which will process the data and release it in a anonymised format to support commissioning, research, public health etc. in order to improve patient care. If you would like more information you can visit http://www.england.nhs.uk/ourwork/tsd/care-data/ which has some useful FAQs etc or call the dedicated patient helpline on 0300 456 3521.
If you do not want your information shared please let the surgery know.
